Self-Reflective Post #1

Dang, I was really hoping not to go first. So, let's see. I've been trying my best throughout the semester to think critically about all the work we've read/viewed and respond to it in some semi-intelligent form. In general, I've attempted to find at least one aspect that intrigued me about the work, and one aspect that I disagreed with that I could delve into in more depth. There have been some occasions when I've fallen into the trap of just describing what I like or don't like about a piece, which the syllabus says to avoid, rather than exploring more deeply how it relates to the class as a whole. I spend so much time trying to "figure out" the work, or at the very least, figure out my emotional response to it, that I neglect to look at the bigger picture. Which isn't good, since I may be missing opportunities to incorporate different attributes that we have looked at into my own work. I will try to be more aware of this in future posts, however.
